Your words, like a rose
Beautiful, but with thorns I fear
Fall from your mouth
And meet me here
In a garden of flowers
All laden with thorns
Look but don’t touch
My heart has been warned
The sweetness I smell
Draws me closer still
I shouldn’t touch
But my heart says I will
I reach for your love
To embrace your whole soul
Accepting thorns with the flowers
The parts as a whole
Your love like a rose
Brings passion and pain
Each moment we’re apart
Until I see you again

Today I walked home in the rain
With my heart in the gutter and my soul filled with pain
Today was not the day for me
My soul has been captured and I long to be free
Today I cried for pity’s sake
I am drowning in a lake
Today I thought I’d fall apart
Please everyone I beg of you stop playing with my heart
Today I got down on my knees
To pray to God save me oh please, please, please
Today my hopes have gotten bleaker
I feel my soul getting so much weaker
Today will be the day that my soul died
And I will be the one to laugh while others cry

I’m reaching, I’m learning
So lonely, so barren
My heart is so yearning
I am so grown up
Yet inside I’m a child
Looking and searching
As my spirits run wild
Wondering who God is
Seeking only the truth
Reaching and learning
From my unending youth
Wanting only to touch
To love and desire
For the smallest of yearnings
My heart walks the wire
I’m looking, I’m searching
I’m reaching, I’m learning
This world so vast and so barren
Yet my love still is burning

Somewhere in my small heart there is something I know
A feeling so deep it grows and it grows
It fills up my soul with hope and love
It soars in my life like a beautiful dove
On the wings of my heart it flies through a life
A life full of loss a life full of strife
And in this life it finds a spark
A light of hope to fill up the dark
It shines through the eyes of the pained and sad
With a love so deep it overshadows the bad
It lets the sun shine upon flowing tears
And washes away pains that have come through the years
Somewhere in my small heart there is a kindness so deep
That it cheers the sad and strengthens the weak
It fills up their souls with hope and love
And it soars in their life like a beautiful dove
On the wings of their heart it flies through a life
A life full of loss a life full of strife
This kindness passed on and shared through the heart
Helps others in need from their strife to part

Where are you
I hear the cry
A lonely empty voice that sighs
It cries inside of empty hearts
And makes them from their sorrows part
And so it echoes in their minds
When the truth they cannot find
For all that has befallen them
Shall never come around again
Though they were sad and lonely too
They wish to see the past anew
And feel it all over again
So as not their hearts to mend
But where are you they hear it cry
That lonely empty voice that sighs
It steals away all their pain
Never to feel it again
It fills a lonely heart with nothing
Where at least there could have been something
So it echoes inside their empty hearts
For it never ends, it only starts
The ghost of all lost loves can be
A spirit so barren and so empty
Where are you, I hear it cry
If only I could run and hide
